Playing games at CMU and update for game schedule in Clevaland

On a nice Saturday afternoon, the Renegades had two games on the CMU campus. First it was a game with Pitt. Then another with Case Western.

Fun to see so many of the players bring along their children to watch and cheer.

Next week, a squad of players from Pittsburgh goes to Cleveland for the Lake Erie Classic for two days of water polo play with a masters tournament there.

• Spring/Easter Break following.
• Starting in May we will begin practicing at Perry HS on Thursdays!

Come out to watch some good fun water polo and support the women’s team in our second league tournament of the year!

There’s going to be a Jolyn Trunk Show at the viewing deck of the pool on Saturday, March 23. Stop by to buy a new swimsuit, and some of the proceeds will go back to the team!

  Tuesday, March 19th: 7:30-9pm Chariters Valley HS. Also, HOSTING an ‘Intro to Water Polo’ for interested high school students and adults.
• Saturdays at Northside Allegheny Middle School (Cedar Ave) from 11:30-1pm you can go and swim laps.

Eighth Annual Lake Erie Classic, to be held April 13-14, 2019

Located at Cleveland State University with a guarantee of four games. RSVP: The tournament fee of $425.00 will be due on March 26, 2019. Respond if interested.

Coaches education requirements from American Water Polo

American Water Polo is adopting a new policy, effective March 20, 2019. The purpose is to provide the safest possible environment for our athletes to enjoy the great sport of water polo.

Certification Overview

The certification process involves these elements:

• Background Check
• Safe Sport Training
• HEADS UP Training for Concussions
• AWP Safety Certification page

A coach must complete and submit all three certifications to become AWP Safety Certified (AWPSC). As of March 15^th, only coaches that are AWPSC will be listed as active members and covered by AWP insurance policies.

Club Requirements

Every club is required to have at least one individual that is AWPSC on deck during an activity involving AWP member athletes. Teams without an AWPSC coach will be ineligible for AWP competition.

Time and Cost

We recognize that these certifications will take the following time:

• Background Check                                        5 min
• Safe Sport Training                                       90 min
• HEADS UP Training for Concussions            60 min

We appreciate your efforts and want to partner with you to keep your athletes safe and healthy. That is why American Water Polo will pay all costs involved with obtaining background clearances and Safe Sport Training (HEADS UP training is free).
